Remember the shoot I did in the Agafay desert? This shoot was the reason Ashtyn contacted me in March 2018 with a lot of questions about getting married in Marrakech. And that never stopped. After we decided that I was going to plan their wedding, Ashtyn nearly stalked me for the next half year. But it was totally okay, because Ashtyn is one of the coolest brides ever.
She sews. She made 5 (!) dresses for the wedding. I quote her: “I know this sounds a bit crazy, but throughout this whole processof making five wedding dresses I’ve become really interested in bridal fashion (maybe psycho obsessed is the better word).”
Spencer and Ashtyn live in California and surf every day. You can say they belong to the cool people (although I think everyone belongs there). They wanted to get married in Marrakech to celebrate their love. Starting the day in a riad, walking through and having lunch in the Medina and end the day with their vows in the Agafay desert. It was a perfect timeline.
Spencer got ready in the courtyard of the riad and Ashtyn on the roof, so they didn’t see each other yet. The contrast in color is big as you can see. Where the courtyard has mustard yellow tones and blue tiles, the roof is all pink.
After the bridal couple was dressed, it was time for the first look on the rooftop. For the first look, Ashtyn wanted to wear one of the dresses she completely made herself and Spencer LOVED it!
Then it was time to go into the Medina; the old city of Marrakech. As you can imagine, Spencer and Ashtyn got a whole lot of attention. All the sweet locals said congratulations and therefore the shooting took some hours, but it was all worth it.
After walking around and shooting in the Medina, we headed over to the Agafay Desert for the final part of the wedding. We got there right before sundown, so it was the perfect timing. First we did a couple of photos and then Spencer and Ashtyn exchanged their vows. This was so emotional, even the team had trouble holding back tears. The words they said to each other were so loving, emotional and beautiful. I think everyone deserves a love like theirs.
After the exchanging of the vows and rings, it was time for some champagne and diner!
